Tips for saving on sightseeing costs in Vienna?

I’m planning a family trip to Vienna next month, and I’m shocked by the entry prices.

Our itinerary includes the classic sights: Hofburg, National Library, Albertina, Schönbrunn, Belvedere, Fine Arts Museum, Natural History Museum, Secession… the total comes to around 200 € per person, and there are six of us!

I’m currently looking into combo tickets to see if we can save some money. There’s the Vienna Pass, but it’s still pretty expensive for the length of our stay.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Are you visiting as a family (so with kids who might qualify for free entry or a big discount) or just adults?

Schönbrunn, all-inclusive, is 40 € per person. That’s outrageous!

One trick to lower the cost of visits is to... do fewer things? It might sound obvious, but not every place is a must-see for a first trip to Vienna.

For example, the Natural History Museum and the National Library aren’t *that* essential to visit.

Alternatively, go for combo tickets (which also saves you time): get the Hofburg combo ticket (Imperial Apartments-Sisi Museum) and Schönbrunn.

The Vienna Card isn’t worth it—my friend got one, and it’s not cost-effective because:

1/ It’s not accepted everywhere (the Fine Arts Museum, in particular, plus others I can’t remember) 2/ When it *is* accepted, the discount is tiny—just 2 € off...
