Good evening, We contacted Lys ch—have you used a Visa credit card with deferred payment for the deposit, please? It seems that French Visa cards sometimes get blocked for the security deposit. Personally, I’d have a Mastercard credit card with deferred debit, but I wouldn’t be the main driver. Thanks for your help! Have a good evening

Yes, we did use a credit card (and therefore a deferred payment one) to pay the deposit. As a rule, the credit card used for the deposit shouldn’t be in the main driver’s name. Make sure to confirm this with Lys.

Hi, I’m going to book a car with LYS based on your tips. I’ve read that in Chile, many rental companies only accept a credit card for the deposit. Can you tell me if this credit card has to be in the renter’s name, or can it be in the spouse’s name (who’s also authorized to drive the vehicle)? Thanks in advance for your help! Philippe

Hello Philippe,

From what I remember, the credit card doesn’t have to be in the name of the person driving. We could actually take turns driving (the second driver is free of charge). However, it *must* be a credit card for the deposit.

To be 100% sure, the best thing is to ask Andres (Lys’s manager) before confirming the booking.
