Meet-up at a restaurant in Paris about home exchanges
Tortuegeante · 2025-05-19
Hi everyone, I’d like to suggest a restaurant meet-up around the theme of home exchanges—a concept I’ve been practicing for a year now, and I’m thrilled with it. I’ll share some insights about home swapping. The meet-up is at **Au bon couscous** on Sunday, June 8th at 1 PM, with a max of 12 people and several associations involved. Everyone pays for their own meal—it’s really good and affordable. My aunt’s been doing this for 20 years, and my sister too. I’m totally sold on this way of vacationing: it’s more social, super budget-friendly, and all about sharing.
I’ll reserve a specific number of spots at the restaurant, so please only come if you’ve signed up.
After the meal, I’m also proposing an optional relaxed walk from Saint-Michel to Gare de Lyon.
Looking forward to meeting you!

hi,
I don’t see many people signed up for this meet-up—will it still happen, and are there people registered via PM?
Thanks for your reply!
have a great day,
Véronique

Hi Tortuegéante,
I’m giving your meet-up a little shout-out! 😎 I’ve been a home exchanger myself for over 10 years, and I’ve mentioned it in my travel journals here on VF.
There’s definitely a financial upside since we stay for free at our hosts’ place while lending our own home, but that’s not all. Here’s a little story: during a home exchange in the Westfjords of Iceland, our hosts invited us to a traditional local festival. It was 100% authentic—something we never would’ve experienced as regular tourists. And I’ve got tons of stories like that!
I’ve even convinced my whole circle of friends to try it, just by sharing my travel adventures and home exchanges around the world.
It’s such a joy to host and be hosted in return!

To sign up for my meet-up, you need to register on TMS or Frimake, which are two free sites. If I don’t get enough people, I’ll cancel a week before because I’m coming from far away—I live near Burgundy. Have a great weekend. Sofi Giant Tortoise from Saint-Mammes
