How to update my avatar

Hi there, I’m reaching out because I’ve recently returned to VoyageForum after several years away. Back then, the forum had switched to "read-only" mode, which paused my participation.

Now, I’d like to update my profile, especially by adding an avatar, but I can’t find the steps to do that. Could you point me to the instructions or guide me to a help page if one exists?

Hi Kate, Yes, I know—for an "old-timer on VF" like me who’s already changed avatars several times, I no longer have the option to upload a photo for an avatar in my account under "edit profile." (Here are my settings below.) .

It seems like some of the possible options are missing from your screenshot, between signature at the bottom of messages and the blue button save changes.

Yes, your screenshot is complete since it shows the blue button at the bottom of the page... But for some mysterious reason, the personal photo to display option isn’t showing up on your account. Have you tried the basics—switching browsers, disabling AdBlock... or other offerings to the internet gods and their quirky moods?

Hi! Select "edit my profile" and then choose the "Personal photo to display" section to upload your personal photo. You might not be in the right options if that’s the case.

Hi Julie,

I assume you’re being asked to write to contact_01@voyageforum.com. VoyageForum has always had this slightly awkward aspect where you can’t directly contact the admin account—unless you know who’s behind it and send a private message to that person’s personal account.

There’s always been that slightly awkward side to VF

There’s always been this surprising closeness with the administration on VF... First in the participatory section Comments, Suggestions, and when that was removed, the Miscellaneous section took over.

Public questions about how the site works, bugs, issues, or improvement suggestions have always been read with the greatest attention.

Sometimes the answers, explanations, or solutions provided by members were enough.

When they weren’t, the administration always stepped in effectively and publicly, operating on the sensible principle that the answer given could help others.

That's true... but in this case, if I'm not doing it, it's for a good reason ;)

It seems so. As you know, the team has completely changed—the founder is no longer here, and we’re discovering notes as we try to fix the issue.
