Trip to Namibia and Victoria Falls from 09/10/25 to 10/07/25

Hi everyone,

I’m heading off on a trip starting September 10th in Namibia and returning from Victoria Falls on October 7th, 2025.

I’m not quite set on the exact itinerary yet, but here’s what I love: - Nature - Culture - Hiking - Backpack-style trips, and for this one, mostly 4x4 (which seems essential) but still with plenty of walking - Simple places to stay, unless it’s THE experience not to miss or a little treat for myself

I’m pretty independent—I love traveling and meeting people, but I also like leaving room for discovery and spontaneity.

I’d love to find a few travel companions to share this experience with, so we could plan the main routes, must-see spots, and places to stay together.

I’ll refine my ideas over the next few weeks, and the plan will evolve based on who joins.

Even if you can’t come along, any tips or advice are more than welcome!

I’ve already contacted the agencies to rent the vehicle and I’m waiting for their response. I’m going to get a 4x4 with a rooftop tent for 2 people since I’ve already found a travel companion—it’ll be great. I’ll rent the 4x4 from Windhoek on the afternoon of the 11th until Kasane on October 1st. After that, without the 4x4, I’ll visit Chobe Reserve and head to Victoria Falls. I’m currently planning the itinerary and aim to finalize it tomorrow so I can start booking places early next week. Any fellow travelers, companions, or advice are always welcome! !

Hi everyone, So my schedule is getting more concrete—I’ve already booked the 4x4 and 3 nights in Etosha Reserve. I’m moving on to reserving the other spots. On top of your great tips, what I really need is a **travel companion** for Namibia who won’t even have to deal with the bookings—it’ll save so much time and emails! All in all, I’ll return the car in Windhoek on October 1st and pick it up on September 11th (so 20 days total). After that, I’ll continue by bus to Chobe and the falls. It cost between 500 € and 800 € before tax to return the car at the falls. Here’s my current route in Namibia, though some things might change depending on bookings and advice. We’ll start in the north and then head west toward the south: Otjiwarongo, Rundu, Divundu, Mudumu, Etosha, Damaraland and Vingerklip, Spitzkoppe, Walvis Bay, Deadvlei and Sossusvlei, Sesriem Don’t hesitate to get in touch. Almost all the reservations are made and mostly paid for, but we can still change things if needed. The ones already booked in Namibia are: Otjiwarongo Xhorixas Etosha Twyfelfontein Spitzkoppe Swakopmund for Walvis Bay

A deposit for the vehicle has been made.

I’ll finish the bookings by the end of July.

So, you see, if things keep going like this, all we’ll have to do is show up! :-)

What I’d like to know from those who’ve been to Namibia in a 4x4 with a rooftop tent is: what consumables or accessories (like solar panels to recharge electronics, external batteries that clear customs, etc.) did you bring from home? It’s to prepare my packing list as best as possible and avoid getting stuck without something I need. Thanks! !

First off, bookings are moving along, and I’m still looking for a travel buddy for this amazing 20-day trip to Namibia!

Otherwise, I had some questions about the trip itself: What are the must-have items you brought for the road trip? How do you drive on sand? And why do so many cars get flat tires (the rental is a Hilux with a roof tent)?
