Brazil in August with a child: Paraty or Salvador?

Ppaa · 2025-06-16

hi, we’re traveling to Brazil with a child under 5. After a few days in Rio (3), we’re torn between Paraty/Ilha Grande or Salvador, especially since we’ll be there in August. What do you think?

Hi Pamela, Regarding Salvador, I don’t see any issues (if your child is used to traveling). I just hosted a family with 3 kids (8, 5, and 3 years old) this weekend, and everything went really well (even the teens had a great time during a city tour). Hi there, The distance isn't the same! I'd lean more toward Salvador (by plane?)—it's less crowded than the Paraty/Angra dos Reis area with local tourists, plus all the foreign travelers... PS: I hadn’t noticed the travel dates... In August, the weather’s better around Rio than around Salvador.
