What to see and do on the Isle of Skye?

Hi everyone, I’m asking for your help because I’m planning a 5-day trip to Scotland starting from Glasgow. I’d like to visit the Isle of Skye—my problem is, is it accessible without a car? And what can you do on this island?

Accessible, absolutely! Yes, of course. By train, by bus, by ferry... even by hitchhiking. But the real question is... when?

Well, NOTHING!😮 90% of the thousands of tourists who come to Skye don’t actually *do* anything... except queue on the road, hunt for a parking spot, find a decent fish and chips place, and finally take the expected selfies.😎 Then in the evening, they flee from the billions of midges ready to devour them.🤪 Still, some do go for walks or even hikes, others go fishing—trout in the rivers, pollock and mackerel along the coast. A few take amazing photos, and some just admire the scenery, plain and simple.🙂

Yes, cars are allowed on Skye.

Just be there when it’s not raining, and you can wander around with the tourists.

The view of the colorful houses in Portree seems to please everyone. Two photos and that’s it. A fish and chips in a packed restaurant, and you’re all set.

If you’re hiking, then there’s plenty to do.
