Trip from Chiang Rai Airport to Chiang Khong

Hi, As the title says, I want to get to Chiang Khong after arriving at Chiang Rai Airport at 7 PM. At that time, there are no more buses. So I’ll have to take a taxi. Should I book it in advance? If so, through which service? Or are there taxis available at the airport? What’s the most cost-effective way? And what’s the approximate fare? Yes, there are indeed taxis at Chiang Rai Airport, and they’re always available when flights arrive.

Given the time and distance, 40–50 € should definitely be negotiable. I have to say, compared to the prices I used to know, inflation has really hit here. If you ask AI, it usually shows a rate of 1,100 to 1,400 baht. That makes sense since you can find taxis doing Hua Hin to Bangkok for 1,800 baht even though it’s twice the distance.

Don’t hesitate to play the taxis against each other for the best deal.
