Germany Eco Vignette Website

Hi everyone.

My family and I have decided to do a little 10-day road trip through Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. Practically all European countries require a vignette to drive on highways or in certain zones. For Germany, an Eco vignette is required to drive in certain areas, like downtown Munich. Would anyone know if this site: https://vignette-allemagne.fr/ is legit? It seems easy to use and quick, but it’s not referenced or mentioned anywhere.

While highway vignettes for the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Austria are a breeze to buy online—safe and simple—the German Umwelt Plakette is a bit of a hassle. It’s not expensive, actually, less than 6 €, but it’s become a feeding frenzy for anyone looking to make an easy profit. It used to be possible to buy it online from some city websites, like Berlin, at the regular price, but I think that’s no longer an option.

Everything I’ve listed is legit. Your site looks like a basic, commercial Dutch one, hastily auto-translated—avoid it.

You can still buy it in person at local vehicle inspection centers, but I think it’s even pricier and not very convenient.

That said, the affected zones are very limited, mostly around the Ruhr area, and their number has recently decreased. It’s entirely possible you won’t need one. If it’s just a quick trip, you’re unlikely to run into issues—especially since, to my knowledge, there’s no visual or electronic enforcement. I don’t think it’s even legal, which is why Google Street View doesn’t work there.

Thanks Michel for your detailed reply. It’s really not easy, and I didn’t manage to order it on the official city websites. So I took the plunge and ordered it for 16 € on an unofficial site that a friend eventually recommended. I’ll share the site name once I receive it—so far, nothing.
