Icebergs in Disko Bay at the end of August

Hi everyone, I’m heading to Greenland on August 18th, starting with a stopover on the east coast and then the west coast. Has anyone traveled there—say, last August—to tell me if the number of icebergs from the ice fjord was significant? Thanks, and have a great day!

hi, just a silly idea—have you thought about checking the satellite view on Google Maps? The rock in the fjords seems to be bare, and there don’t appear to be many icebergs left 🙁 Plus, the imagery on that site is updated every year. That said, it’s no substitute for an actual trip there, of course

To see icebergs, you just need to make sure there are glaciers calving ice directly into the water. On the east coast, there are always some in the Sermilik Fjord, and the same goes for Disko Bay in the Icefjord—but really, you’ll find them anywhere a glacier meets the sea. In the two fjords I mentioned, there are always *tons* in August, including some massive ones...
