Which sections of the Camino del Cid are worth doing?

The full route from Burgos to (just before) Murcia is 1,300 km.

If you’ve done the whole thing, do you think the entire route is worth the trip, or can some sections be skipped?

Here are the stages we followed: 1: Burgos - Covarubias 2: Covarubias - San Esteban de Gormaz 3: San Esteban de Gormaz - Berlanga de Duero 4: Berlanga de Duero - Medinaceli 5: Medinaceli - Molina de Aragón 6: Molina de Aragón - Orihuela del Tremedal 7: Orihuela del Tremedal - Albarracín 8: Albarracín - Teruel

Due to lack of time, we went from Teruel back to Burgos to return home. Compared to the official route, we didn’t do the loop in the last two-thirds but cut straight through. But I think everything is beautiful!

I loved this trip. The landscapes are stunning, and the towns we passed through are gorgeous, especially stage 7, which crosses a slightly more mountainous range.

Watch out for the heat: we had days with 36°C in the shade (but now you can consider that cool). I’d recommend going in May or September.

For the heat, I won’t be doing it in summer—probably May or late September instead.

Given the distance, I’ll likely split it into two trips.

Apparently, there are plenty of campgrounds and hostels for sleeping and restocking.

I remember there wasn’t much around at times (but we mostly did bivouacs). Central Spain is really empty. It wasn’t uncommon to drive for an hour on a road the size of a national highway without seeing a single car.

Yes, it's a well-known topic that has a name: España vaciada.

Looking at different sites, I found quite a few campgrounds and albergues. It would’ve been handy if the official site offered GPX files in addition to PDFs.

Now I just need to send a group email to confirm they still exist.
