Good evening, After hesitating between Martinique and Guadeloupe, then between Mexico, Mauritius, and the Dominican Republic... soon followed by the desire to go to Tunisia but quickly replaced by the idea of doing humanitarian work in Madagascar... what’s motivating your travel plans to Zanzibar this time? Why not go for a 15-day round-the-world trip instead?😏

It’s not quite like La Grande-Motte or Palavas-les-Flots! 😄

In 2022, we stayed for 5 nights at the Sea Cliff Resort & Spa on the west coast.

The plus: lots of free activities The minus: the atmosphere and entertainment were pretty limited.

This place is great for a romantic getaway, less so for families.

I almost forgot, we're planning to go back for a week next year (still all-inclusive) and the TUI BLUE Bahari seems to be popular for its friendly vibe and activities.

From what I remember, the east coast is better for diving and kite surfing—if those are your interests... Edit: On your profile, you mention snorkeling, so yes, the east coast with Jambiani, Paje, and Pingwe. 🙂

thanks so much! yeah, we’re only doing snorkeling—scuba with gas is too complicated. I’d love to take my wife and my teen and my son to see dolphins, etc...

Of the Zanzibar archipelago, it's Pemba Island that I loved the most (see photo under my name)—way more authentic. I barely ran into any tourists there, whereas on Unguja Island (where you're planning to go, if I understand correctly), it's packed with tourists. And then there's Mafia Island, which is also part of the Zanzibar archipelago, but I've never been.

I only met very, very few tourists there, whereas on Unguja Island (where you’re planning to go if I understand correctly), it’s packed with tourists. And there’s also Mafia, which is part of the Zanzibar archipelago, but I’ve never been.

Yes, you’re absolutely right—that’s an excellent idea. Since they have 15 days and it might get long in one place, a week on the main island doing snorkeling at different spots (don’t miss Mnemba), seeing the dolphins, then keeping busy with the spice tour, turtles, Prison Island, and other must-sees. And the second week (or first, depending on preference) immersing themselves in the real local culture by heading to Mafia or Pemba (which I haven’t visited but seem attractive if you want peace and quiet). I think the transition will be smoother with Unguja first, then Mafia/Pemba second (which will then be appreciated for their true worth).
