Thailand to Cambodia by boat: info & visa?

Everdi · 2025-08-07

Hi there,

Does anyone know if it's possible to travel from Thailand to Cambodia by boat? If so, where do the boats depart from and arrive, and can you get a Cambodian visa on arrival?

Thanks (and happy travels)!

Martine

Thailand-Cambodia boat crossing: info & visa?

Hi, There’s been a lot of talk for a couple of years now about boat connections between the islands off Trat in Thailand (Koh Chang/Kood, etc.) and those off Sihanoukville in Cambodia (Koh Rong, etc.), as well as Kampot—but so far, it still seems like a pipe dream. Maybe in 2026?

Info to take with a grain of salt: https://boonsiriferry.com/en/timetable Better to wait for a firsthand experience report.

For now, the only operational routes are between Kampot and the islands off Sihanoukville (all in Cambodia), run by Buva Sea: https://www.buvasea.com/.
