Vancouver to Toronto by train
Olympique41 · 2025-08-07
Hi! I arrive in Vancouver on August 24, 2025, and I’m staying until Friday, August 29, 2025—the day I take *The Canadian* train to Toronto.
I’m exploring several things in Vancouver, including whale watching—if you’ve got any great tips, don’t hesitate!
Thanks!

Hi,
Great idea for whale watching—the best spot is often from Steveston or Granville Island with zodiac tours (more fun but it’s bumpy 😄). Otherwise, also enjoy Stanley Park by bike, the Capilano Bridge, and if you have time, a trip to Whistler is totally worth it.

Capilano Bridge is such a tourist trap... Paying $78 for that! 🤪
Better to go to Lynn Canyon; it's pretty much the same thing, and it's free...

Hey 😊
I get that the price of Capilano Bridge might make you wince, but honestly, the place is worth the detour, especially if you’ve never been there.
The atmosphere is really well done (lighting, suspended walkways in the forest, trails in the trees), and it’s way more than just a bridge.
Lynn Canyon is great too—more natural and free, definitely a good alternative—but Capilano is still a lovely "postcard" experience of Vancouver, especially for a first visit.
It all depends on whether you're looking for authenticity or a more "wow" spot to do once.

I’ve been living in Vancouver for over 7 years and I’ve never set foot on it (and God knows I’ve done plenty of hikes!). Once again, it’s ridiculously expensive, and there’s nothing more to see there than at Lynn Canyon or LSCR, which are right nearby.
But hey, I’m not on Instagram, Facebook, or anything else... 😉

Good evening, there’s a canyon that’s not well known to members of this forum—Myra Canyon, east of Kelowna.
It follows the old Kettle Valley Railway line.
The vegetation there is dry and reminiscent of the Hautes-Alpes, or even the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
That said, it’s obviously far from Vancouver, and if you’re making the Vancouver-Toronto trip, you’ll need to stop in Alberta and rent a car to get there.
