Hi there, Do I need a return ticket? Proof of insurance and a hotel reservation?? I’m French. Also, is there any control on meds and sleeping pills?? Thanks a bunch!

Hi there,

Since you need an ID card or passport covering the duration of your stay, you do indeed need a return or onward ticket for the airline—not necessarily for the police, though. There’s customs like in any country, and it’s certain that checks sometimes focus on medications. You’ll want to be especially careful with codeine. Thanks! There’s no link between needing a passport and having a return or onward ticket. It’s not required everywhere—I’ve already traveled with just a one-way ticket before...

Hi there,

If you're French, you normally don't need any of this... But I crossed the border into Armenia with my partner three weeks ago—she didn’t need a visa (she’s from an Asian country)—and she was *seriously* hassled by the border guards: they asked for an invitation, insurance, how much money we had on us, etc. The guards were really harsh, pushy, and frankly rude. All that, only to come back 15 minutes later and practically throw her passport back at her with an entry stamp (oh yeah, maybe check your computer *before* getting aggressive with tourists). It really put a damper on our impression of the country (not great, honestly).

So even if you don’t technically need any documents, stay on your guard.

For medications, we only had Strepsils with us, so I don’t have any info on that.

Safe travels.
