Should I book hotels well in advance in Hanoi and Da Nang?

Hi there, I’m heading to Hanoi and Da Nang for the first time for about ten days in mid-January 2026. Should I book hotels in advance, or can I find decent places available from one day to the next? Same question for prices—do rates vary depending on when you book?

Hi there,

There are tons of guesthouses and hotels in DA NANG and Hanoi, so you’ll easily find somewhere to stay. At worst, you can book the first night and look for something else the next day. As for prices, I didn’t really notice any variations. I was there in February and March this year, and I’m going back in 2026.

Just so you know, the weather wasn’t great in DA NANG (rainy and not very warm), and Hanoi wasn’t warm either. January is also the cold season, so keep that in mind. Otherwise, it’s an amazing country.

Yes, it’s totally doable. There are always guesthouses, called “nha nghi” (a local term for basic small hotels), which you can book on the spot depending on your plans.
