Crossing the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan

Hi, we’re traveling to Georgia soon and want to go to Azerbaijan. I’m having trouble finding info on crossing the border. Is it possible to do it by car or train? Are the land borders between the two countries open? Or do we have to fly? Thanks in advance

Last July, the land border was still closed except for exceptions (trucks, etc.). I don’t know about the train. Otherwise, go for the safest option—fly.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we’ve just been told that the borders from Georgia to Azerbaijan are closed, but not the other way around! We should’ve switched directions. :-) We’re leaving on September 16th—if any other travelers are around, we’d love to grab a coffee... or a beer. Cheers
