Visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau during a motorcycle trip
Pilou069 · 2025-09-11
Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?
I understand we need to book online rather than on-site.
Thanks in advance for your replies!

Hi there,
Why leave the bikes at the hotel?
Otherwise, the online tours in French sell out fast => book well in advance!

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Well, we don’t know how it works—is the parking secure?
For the bookings, we plan to make them as soon as they’re available online. It’s way too early for June 2026.
Have a great day

Hi,
There’s an open-air parking lot right next to the entrance. No security issues. Poland is a very safe country. We left our car there with our luggage, including laptops, without any worries at all.

Hello,
I might be a bit late to reply, but here’s my experience at Auschwitz.
During my Cap Nord/Transfagarasan trip, I stopped at Auschwitz. I booked an Airbnb about 20 minutes away because I saw the host spoke Italian, which was helpful since Polish... well, I didn’t get very far with it... I booked the French-guided tour online in advance, and on-site, there was no issue parking the motorcycle—it was very secure.
Everything is very well signposted there. You can go with your eyes closed.
Have a great trip...

Thanks so much for your reply.
Our road trip is planned for June 2026.
We booked a hotel a few kilometers from the site through Booking (so we have the option to cancel if needed...).
Thanks for reassuring us about the parking security for our bikes. It’ll definitely be nice to ride a bit after a day full of emotions
