What to visit around Buenos Aires?
Vchamallo · 2025-09-27
Hi there, we're heading to Antarctica in February for the trip of a lifetime!
After spending 3 weeks on the boat, we'd love some advice on how to extend our trip.
We were thinking of staying in Buenos Aires, which we’ll have visited on the way there.
So we’re considering exploring the areas around the capital. Any ideas for a week of discoveries?
Thanks so much for your input!

Hi there,
You’ve got Tigre and the Paraná Delta. There are quite a few agencies that offer this kind of excursion from Buenos Aires. It’s nice to wander through the Tigre canals. And it’s not that far from Buenos Aires.
After that, you’ll need to take flights or buses to see more, like Iguazu.
On this page, you can find what there is to visit in Buenos Aires following our trip.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. I’ll definitely take inspiration from it.
Do you also have any ideas for getting to the seaside by train?
Based on your experience visiting Buenos Aires, how many days would you recommend we spend there, given that we have plenty of time and really enjoy wandering around?
Best regards and have a lovely evening,
Véronique

From Buenos Aires, you can head to Mar del Plata to reach the ocean by train.
If you want to explore Buenos Aires at a relaxed pace, plan for 4 days. But it’s better to spend more time elsewhere ;)

Hello!
I really enjoyed La Plata, about an hour from Buenos Aires by bus or train. The city is interesting from an urban planning perspective—it’s the quadrangular city with diagonals. The administrative buildings are aligned along a grand perspective, there’s a house designed by Le Corbusier, the museums are well-regarded, and the lively student atmosphere is great.
In Buenos Aires itself, the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve is a little nature oasis in the city. A lovely spot for walking and observing wildlife and plants in complete tranquility.
