Registering your mobile phone in Chile

Hi there, I’ll be in Chile in 15 days, and I just found out I need to register my mobile phone on the multibanda site. Can I do this before I leave, or do I have to wait until I’m in Chile? Thanks for your help!

If your stay is less than a month, it’s not really necessary or mandatory to register a foreign phone in Chile.

After that period, it should theoretically be blocked.

However, if your phone isn’t registered, you normally won’t receive alerts in case of disasters and/or evacuation orders, such as for potential tsunamis or forest fires.
