Is there an overnight train from Krabi/Trang to Bangkok?

Starting November 15th, I’ll be arriving in Thailand, and during my stay, I plan to visit the north, around the Chiang Mai area, then head south to the Krabi region. After Krabi, I’m planning to take an overnight train to Bangkok. I was wondering if there’s a train that leaves from Krabi or Trang, or if I absolutely have to go to Surat Thani? Also, which official website can I use to book my ticket?

Next, since I’ll be arriving at dawn in Bangkok, I’ve planned to spend 2 days in Kanchanaburi. What’s the most convenient way to get there—bus or train? And if you know any companies or websites, that’d be great.

After Krabi, I planned to head to Bangkok by night train. I was wondering if there’s a train that leaves from Krabi or Trang (...) since I’ll arrive at dawn in Bangkok, I planned to go to Kanchanaburi for 2 days.

From Krabi, no—there’s no station—but from Trang, yes, there are 2 night trains. But why go through Bangkok if your final destination is Kanchanaburi? There’s a way to get from the South to Kanchanaburi mostly by train without passing through Bkk:

In your case, from Trang, book a sleeper on the Express 84* (dep. 5 PM) to Ban Pong (arr. 5:20 AM + delays). From Ban Pong station, walk 10–12 minutes toward the clock intersection (you can see it from far away). At the intersection, turn right immediately without crossing, and about 30 meters away, you’ll find the stop for the blue-and-white bus 81 a/c (Bangkok–Ban Pong–Kanchanaburi, every 20 minutes). Take that bus, and you’ll arrive in Kanchanaburi about 55 minutes later. You just saved yourself 5 hours of unnecessary travel, including Bangkok traffic jams.

* There’s also the Rapid 168, but it arrives in Ban Pong at 3:38 AM.

Here: https://dticket.railway.co.th/DTicketPublicWeb/home/Home - Change the language in the top-right corner - It’s a bit slow - Cheaper here (regular prices) than on third-party booking sites like 12Go - I just checked for early December, and there are still first- and second-class sleepers available.

No need to book the bus.
