Lyon Part-Dieu: TGV to TER transfer in 26 minutes

Hi there, I’m a bit late to be worrying about this, but hopefully someone can help me before I leave. Tomorrow afternoon, I arrive at Lyon Part-Dieu on the TGV at 5:50 PM and take the TER to Mâcon at 6:16 PM. Is a 26-minute transfer doable? Are the TGV and TER on the same departure board? And are they on the same platforms too? I’ve been to Lyon before but never had to make a connection after arriving. Thanks

hi there, yeah, it’s doable. 26 minutes is a tight but manageable connection. The platforms are elevated, so you’ll need to go down either stairs or a sloped walkway. After that, departure boards are everywhere—you can’t miss them. Platforms are labeled from A to L or M. That said, you probably won’t be on the same platform. Tomorrow afternoon—so Friday—expect the station to be packed.

Thanks for your reply already! I can see the departure boards for the TGV, but are TER departures also shown on the same ones? Do the same platforms serve both TGV and TER departures? There are 2 halls, I think—that’s what’s confusing me.

Yep, I caught my TER with no problem despite the TGV being 5 minutes late. I had an app to check the TER platform in advance—though it changed at the last minute. Luckily, I was chatting with a girl waiting on the platform who noticed, so we even had time to move from platform I to A. Shows it’s totally doable! I’d still prepared in the TGV to be among the first to get off. Doing it again Sunday in the opposite direction. Anyway, if my little tips can help someone, that’s great!
