Cheapest flights between Central America and Martinique
Claireloise · 2025-10-17 · Message 1 of 23
Hi there,
Could anyone tell me how to connect Central America (starting from which country and with which airline) to Martinique in the most budget-friendly way, please?
Flight duration and number of stopovers don’t matter.
Thanks!
Claire

Hi, have you checked Skyscanner?
As far as I know, the only flights departing from Martinique are to France, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, and possibly Montreal.
So I doubt you’ll find a direct flight.

Hi there,
This site might help you out.
Apparently, Miami is also served, which offers quite a few connection options.

Yeah, I did the search via Skyscanner, but for example, it showed flights from Panama to Martinique with American Airlines, but nothing for Mexico to Martinique. However, when I went directly to the American Airlines website, there *is* a flight from Mexico (with a layover in Dallas and another in Miami). So, Skyscanner isn't 100% reliable 😜

Yeah, it looks like you pretty much have to go through Miami. Thanks for the site—I hadn’t heard of that one before! 👍

I discovered this very recently. I found it handy for checking direct flight options from a city.

Hey, you can find flights from Mexico to Martinique with Air Canada that have a layover in Montreal for around 300 € depending on your dates (which you didn’t mention) without a return flight (which you also didn’t mention) 🤪
For less than 300 €, you can also find flights with Air Transat.
If you don’t have your ESTA for a layover in the States, the airlines mentioned are a good option 😊

Thanks for the search! I can't find rates as low with Air Canada and AirTransat. I did a simulation for a one-way trip (it's for my son, and he'd like to find a sailboat or a sailing internship to return to Europe). And around mid-March 2026 because the return transatlantic crossings start around that time.
He's leaving Canada at the end of October after a working holiday and plans to spend a few days in Florida, then travel around Central America before heading back to Europe (by sailboat, then). We're realizing now (with the flight routes) that he should've done this trip the other way around π.
He has an ESTA, so no worries about that.

I didn't really do much research, just 2-3 clicks in the right places (where the cheapest fares are) for around 300 €.
Not sure if layovers in the States—just because your son has an ESTA—mean the fares will be the same. I think it'd probably be double (but I answered in line with your question). Cheapest flights 😊

A one-way ticket can sometimes be more expensive than a round-trip.
This might explain why you're not finding those rock-bottom prices.
In your case, you should look into a few different ticket options:
Canada - Florida / Florida - Central America / Central America - Martinique (3-leg tickets)
Canada - Florida / Florida - Martinique + separately Florida - Central America / Central America - Florida (so 2 round-trips)
Etc. etc.

I told her where to find the cheapest flights (300 €). She says she can’t find them, even though I found them in two clicks π€ͺ
Of course, personally, I look for my flights with airlines that actually have planes and fly them π
I haven’t tried checking kebabs or pizza joints yet 😂

I don’t get the irony in your reply... Obviously I’m checking airline websites—I’m not stupid!! And when I go directly to Air Canada and Air Transat’s sites, there weren’t any flights at that price.
So, on Skyscanner, there’s an option for 381 € via Punta Cana and Montreal, partly operated by Air Canada. But on Air Canada’s site, the cheapest flight from Mexico to Martinique is 766 €. And Air Transat’s search engine doesn’t even offer Mexico-Martinique, but it does show 203 € (no baggage) just for Montreal-Martinique.
So when you dig deeper, those tempting deals don’t always pan out...

He's taking the bus from Montreal to Miami. But yeah, I'll check what a "multi-destination" search turns up for the rest. Thanks for the tip! !

My irony wasn’t aimed at you but at those who suggest using unreliable third-party sites. 😅
For the rest, there was a misunderstanding because in your first post, you didn’t provide flight dates, which led me astray in my little contribution (I stupidly searched for late October and November 2025, where I actually found prices around 300 €—even 298 €). I forgot to mention Viva Air, which operates part of the trip with Air Transat.
It was only later that you mentioned March 2026, and yeah, the prices aren’t the same then.
Sorry for the confusion due to the lack of dates in your first post! 😊

305 € or 325 € without checked baggage (to be added). Air Canada. Departure on March 11, 2026 (note: prices change daily—sometimes hourly—depending on availability, so grab it fast! 😊)

Yeah, I think I searched for a flight on Air Canada from Mexico International Airport (not Cancun) because it was the cheapest option Skyscanner (incorrectly) suggested. It’s definitely more interesting to leave from Cancun since it’s cheaper and has one less layover. Thanks for checking!π

After years of traveling, I always use Google Flights for my flights because it’s the most comprehensive—with options for layovers, checked baggage, date flexibility, etc. I also set up a daily price alert.
When booking, I choose the airlines’ offers directly and avoid third-party sites, since they’re often nowhere to be found if there’s an issue. For about the past 6 months to a year, there’s been a little button in the top right that appears after entering your destination and dates on Google Flights (click it)—it shows the cheapest options! 😊

I always book directly with the airline too, but until now I’ve used Skyscanner for my initial search. I’m adding Google Flights to my search engines now π

It’s a really smart move to book directly on the airlines’ websites.
So many travelers have had issues with online agencies!
For searches, you’ll need to check multiple sites and try out tons of different options.
One route might only run on Mondays, another only during the season.
It’s a real jungle out there to find what works for you, and no single site can do it all.

Yeah, it really takes forever! Not to mention that some airlines' websites aren't "user-friendly" at all π€ͺ
