Safety in Chanthaburi - Trat and Ko Kood

Hi, Does anyone know if it's still advised against traveling to Chanthaburi, Trat, Ko Chang, and Ko Kood? On thailande.gouv, they recommend staying more than 10 km away from the borders with Cambodia. I don’t know if that’s a good idea. But on TripAdvisor, it seems to be discouraged.

Hi,

On thailande.gouv, they advise staying more than 10 km away from the borders with Cambodia. I don’t know if that’d be good.

Shortest distances to the border as the crow flies: Chanthaburi (town): 43 km Trat (town): 22 km Koh Chang (southeast coast): 34 km Koh Kut (east coast): 30 km.

Phew, saved!

Hi there, It all depends on the dates you're looking at—skirmishes happen regularly but don’t have much impact. On July 24th, things got more serious, though it was very brief. These flare-ups happen every 4 to 5 years. For me, everything’s calm now. On the ground, tensions are high, and individual fighters are operational, but the stunning temples to visit are still there. Have a great trip! Eric

Hello, we’re currently on Koh Chang. Everything is calm. No problems coming from Bangkok, just a few military personnel at the ferry departure and arrival. It seems there are fewer tourists. We’ll see.
