SIM card or eSIM with data and phone service in Japan

Hi there,

I haven’t found what I’m looking for despite my searches!

For a 15-day trip next spring, I’d like to buy a card (preferably an eSIM, but a physical SIM is fine too) that also lets me make calls in the country (to contact a hotel, a tourist spot, etc.).

You can easily find options just for data, but I haven’t come across any that include calls, texts, or even MMS. Could you recommend something?

So, did you find one?

No. We rented a local "pocket WiFi" that we used, among other things, for calls via WhatsApp, and we also added a "calls from Japan" plan to our Orange subscription. That was enough for a 15-day trip with 4 stops.
