Criminal record extract for O-A Visa

ZoLive2010 · 2025-10-26

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for an O-A Visa from France, and they’re asking for a criminal record extract. In the site’s FAQ, there’s a question that interests me: "I want to present my criminal record extract to the administration of another European Union state. What do I need to provide?" But when I click for the answer, I get a "404 error"... of course 🤪.

My questions are simple: - Is it really the "extrait n°3" that’s required for the O-A Visa application? - Do I need to have it translated into English?

Thanks in advance! Olivier

The AI says it's indeed extract No. 3, translated into English by a certified or sworn translator.

the AI replies to me with this:

"you go through the official Thai e-Visa site (https://www.thaievisa.go.th), which now centralizes most applications, including the O-A visa. In this case, it’s the Embassy of Thailand in Paris that remains the reference authority for your application (even though everything is done online). No, you don’t need to have your criminal record extract translated for your O-A visa application if you apply from France via thaievisa.go.th."

So if anyone has any first-hand experience with applying for an OA Visa from France via the official website, I'd love to hear about it ;)

Hi there, For the Thai embassy in Paris, regarding the OA visa application:

"A criminal record extract."

As sent to you by the authorities—no need to have it translated.

You must have gotten your visa by now!! But hey, our answer might help someone else. We got our O visa (OA long stay for one year) in 20 working days without any issues on September 20th.

Just a heads-up: the embassy responds to emails very quickly (even on Sundays, we got replies!) as long as the answer to your question isn’t already on the embassy’s website!!!

Since we applied through the official visa application site, we dealt with the Paris embassy. We handled the criminal record request via FranceConnect on the official criminal record extract request site... we got it immediately by email after following all the instructions on the official site. No problem in French (even for medical certificates, etc.). The agents at the Paris embassy speak French, so no worries at all.
