Is it possible to visit Zimbabwe from Bulawayo?

Hi there, I’m a resident of La Réunion and I’m heading to Johannesburg in May 2026. I’d like to visit a few places in Zimbabwe (Great Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park, and Matobo Hills) from Bulawayo over a week. Is this doable? Can I do it solo or should I go through a local agency? And if so, could you recommend one? Thanks for all your tips! Fred

Your plan is totally doable without an agency and with a basic car. Even the main tracks in Hwange, even though you’ll be there at the end of the rainy season.

Bulawayo is a great base, and Great Zimbabwe is pretty impressive and rare in the southern part of the continent.
