What about mosquitoes by the sea in Cuba?

Hi, Several comments recommend bringing mosquito repellent. Got it. Are there a lot of them during the day? And by the seaside? Or are they more present (and voracious) in the evening? Thanks.

Hello, I just got back from Cuba, and yeah, there are quite a few mosquitoes (I got bitten a lot even though I used spray several times a day). Fortunately, it was more scary than harmful! They’re mostly active in the evening, so during the day at the beach, it’s pretty okay. Covering your arms and legs a bit in the evening helps a lot.

Thanks! Which part of Cuba were you in? Was it an all-inclusive resort? If so, was there any fumigation?

The only all-inclusive hotel I stayed at was in Varadero, and honestly, I barely got bitten there. But in other cities, yeah, way more—though those were in *casas particulares* (Havana, Viñales, Cienfuegos, Trinidad). I think most all-inclusive hotels do fumigation.
