Your recommendations for a nice spot in southern Goa

Hello, My husband and I usually spend a month in January/February in southern India. We end our trip in Gokarna and fly back from Vasco de Gama Airport in Dabolim. So, it might make sense to spend a few days in a nice, quiet spot in southern Goa. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks

😉namaste Yan 55! I arrived on 26/11/25 at Goa’s Dabolim Airport (GOI) and headed straight to Bogmalo Beach for a few days at Williams’ Inn guesthouse. Host Bessie is super welcoming and helpful with info—clean, affordable rooms. She also runs a café/restaurant called Bytes. If you stay there, tell her you’re coming from me! 😊 After that, I took the bus to Vasco da Gama (the stop is right in front of the bus station), then another bus to Margao, then Angola, and finally a bus to Gokarna, where I am now and know well. I’ve only been to Goa once, 15 years ago... I loved Palolem back then—it wasn’t overrun like it seems to be now. Plus, I went at the end of September, which is off-season but almost at the start of the tourist season. The place was idyllic with its lagoon, fine sandy beach, and coconut trees, but I’m afraid those days might be over... About 2 kilometers south of Palolem, there’s Patnem, which was super quiet—almost deserted—at the time. Tourism must have grown there since, but it might still be relatively low-key. Worth looking into...

Hi Anne, In January 2024, we set our bags down in Agonda, which is a really nice and family-friendly long beach. A few years ago, I’d been to Palolem and left quickly because it was overcrowded and had a "party party" vibe... I’m attaching the trip report I wrote—it might give you an idea. Happy planning! Oh okay, but for better or worse? I went there in January 2018, and the beach was a succession of bars, restaurants, and guesthouses, with a good mix of Westerners and Indians—and all the noise that comes with it, especially in the evening. The only part that was nicer was the far right of the beach when looking at the sea.

I was making this observation in response to your point, with a smiley that suggested it was clearly a negative change.

Hi there, personally I spent a few days in Agonda for Christmas in 2019. It was busy but nothing like Palolem, which I just zipped past on a scooter. We were at the far end of the beach, so it was really peaceful at Duck n Chill. The team there was great too. Happy travels!
