Reaching southern Italy or Messina from Genoa by ferry

Vanouk · 2025-12-08

Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip with my camper van in autumn 2026 to head to southern Italy from Genoa by ferry. Ideally, I’d like to leave from Genoa for southern Italy (like Messina) or another city in the boot. I’ve done some research online but haven’t had any luck. Can you help or give me some advice? Thanks in advance! Vanouk

Hello,

Genoa-Palermo with Grandi Navi Veloci. The autumn schedules/bookings might not be available yet.

Hi,

Back in 2018 and 2022, I took a Grimaldi ferry from Genoa to Palermo with my camper van. Apparently in 2025, Grimaldi now runs Livorno-Palermo (no more departures from Genoa).

However, GNV does still sail from Genoa to Palermo. For ferry searches, you can use the Direct Ferry site and then book directly on the website of the company you’ve chosen.
