How long does passport renewal take?

I applied for a passport renewal at the beginning of November, and my town hall told me it would take about a month to get it. However, I still haven’t received it, and it’s been over a month now. When I checked the ANTS website to track my passport application, I saw that its status changed to "In production" on November 27th. Today is December 18th, and I still haven’t heard anything about receiving it, even though I’ve read everywhere that once the status is "In production," it usually takes about a week to get the passport. I’m starting to worry about not having received it yet...

Do you know what the current processing time is after it reaches "In production" in 2025? Is there a risk that the passport was made but lost in transit?

I’m concerned because I have a trip planned for 2026—admittedly not until April, so there’s still time in theory—but my application seems to be stuck.

Either way, I’ll contact the town hall soon, though I don’t think they’ll have more information...

Hi! Contacting the town hall a month in advance seems like a lot. Mine was renewed in less than 20 days. But then again, I live in a big city.

In Essonne, the current wait time is 2 weeks: application submitted on November 27th – passport picked up on December 11th.

I was actually thinking of contacting them because when I submitted my application, they told me the current wait times were 3 weeks to a maximum of 1 month. But it's been almost a month and a half now. My concern is that on the ANTS application tracking site, it's been stuck on the "In production" step since November 27th—over 20 days—which seems really long to me. Even though my trip isn't until April, I'm not feeling great about it.

My renewal request is due to a lost passport—could that extend the wait time?

I’m in the Alpes-Maritimes and was told it’d take a maximum of 1 month… I’m now at a month and a half of waiting and stuck at the same “in production” stage. Your replies are only making my worries worse.

I contacted the town hall this morning and it turns out they’ve actually had my passport since early December—that’s nearly 3 weeks! I never got a text to let me know... Well done, ANTS. Good thing I reached out.
