Let me explain. I’m cutting it close for arriving around Chinese New Year in Guizhou. There are very few options to maximize (30 days) my stay—otherwise, it’s more like 25 days. I’ve found a "possibility," but for the return flight, the plane is scheduled at 12:50 AM, which is 50 minutes after midnight. So my question is: at what point am I considered "to have left China"? Is it when I clear customs or something else? Thanks.

I think it’s pretty risky to have no buffer like that—by March, your flight could easily be rescheduled or the date changed.

Is this considered an "overstay"? Isn’t the date the one when you cross the border? https://en.nia.gov.cn/n147423/n147478/n147725/c158372/content.html I think it’s the date on the stamp that counts, whether for entry or exit.

I don’t think there’s an option to extend the stay.

Anyway, I just bought a ticket with a departure one day earlier (since there are fewer trains to the airport on Sunday mornings). This time, it’s under thirty days, so no more questions.

If this can help others... On November 26th, we left China 30 days and 7 hours after our arrival. (I had just miscalculated when I bought the tickets 🤪) We didn’t have any issues—no remarks or problems at all.
