Any suggestions for accommodation between Marrakech Airport and the road to Ouarzazate?

Hi everyone, I’m traveling with my teenage daughter at the end of February with plans to do the Marrakech/Merzouga loop by car. We arrive Friday evening (7:45 PM) in Marrakech, and I’d love to head south first thing Saturday morning.

Would you have any ideas for accommodation with breakfast included that could help me avoid the center of Marrakech and let me quickly get back on the road? I checked Booking but didn’t find many options... Do you think it’s better to pick up the car right at the airport in the evening or have it delivered to the hotel the next day? Thanks in advance for your replies! !

Marrakech airport is close to the city. Generally, we spend one night in Marrakech and have the rental car delivered the next morning at 9 AM to the hotel. Alternatively, you can also have the car delivered to the airport, and the agency guy will drive you to your hotel. The next day, you can leave whenever you want. Two options.

Thanks for your reply! There’s no shortage of accommodation options in Marrakech, and your solution is definitely practical. But I’d like to hit the road early the next morning to quickly reach a main route heading south. Any suggestions for a place to stay?

I totally get wanting to skip the city center. It’s not far in distance, but time-wise, it’s a whole different story—plus the hustle and bustle and noise.

One place to consider on the way to Ouarzazate: *Le Coq Hardi* in Ait Ourir. I haven’t stayed there myself, but I’ve heard good things from people who travel to Morocco often (I’ve kept the address handy just in case).

You could also ask the guy from the agency to drive you to Bleu House, just outside Marrakech. It’s a really nice place, and you’ll be all set to leave the next morning. You’ll just need to pay for his bus or taxi ride back, but it won’t cost much at all.

hi, avoid the hotels around Djema El Fnaa square. They’re noisy, and since it’s a medina, getting around is tricky. So, book a hotel near route P2012, as shown on Google Maps

To get to Bleu House should take about half an hour, especially since traffic will be lighter at the time you leave the airport. Otherwise, you’re staying in Gueliz—I’m heading to Hôtel Gomassine. It’s great.
