Tourist visa price for land crossing into Cambodia

Hi, Currently in Laos, we’re crossing the land border into Cambodia on January 1, 2026. I’ve read that tips/bribes are everywhere. Can anyone tell me the price of the tourist visa on arrival? Thanks for the info. Mylène

The visa on arrival costs $30. There’s often mention of a $1–2 "tip" you’re expected to pay when leaving Laos for no real reason. If you're leaving from the 4,000 Islands, you’ll find minibus companies that cover the whole route (with a change of minibus at the border) to Phnom Penh via Kratie, all the way to Siem Reap, or eastward to Sen Monorom in Mondolkiri via Ratanakiri. Right now, they have a bad but convenient excuse to take advantage: they’re the most practical border crossing for traveling overland from Thailand to Cambodia via Ubon Ratchathani, Pakse, and the cost of a Laotian visa. I actually wonder why they don’t also take advantage on the Cambodian side—those immigration officials aren’t exactly known for their integrity either...

Ah yes, exactly! There must be a lot more traffic than usual—way more tourists to relieve of a bill or two!
