Does the Open Deck service exist on Italy-Greece ferries?

Randomi · 2026-01-07

Hi there, During our last trip to Greece in 2021, we used Anek Lines' open deck offer, which allowed us to spend the night in our van on an open deck by the sea with access to the ferry's bars, restaurant, and showers (on the Ancona-Igoumenitsa route). From my initial research, it seems this service no longer exists—can anyone confirm this? Any alternatives? Thanks

Is the Open Deck service available on ferries from Italy to Greece?

Hi there,

Actually, this service has been discontinued since 2024 on all ferries due to an international maritime regulation. There’s no alternative other than booking a cabin, which obviously costs quite a bit.

Thanks for your reply. It’s a real shame because it was also really comfortable and nice (a great chance to chat with other travelers). We’ll just stick with the lounge seats we usually take on other ferries. Have a great day
