China Eastern: first and last name swapped on flight ticket

Hi there, I booked 4 flight tickets with China Eastern. Unfortunately, I swapped the first and last name for one of them. Do you know if I can contact them to get it corrected? Thanks!

Where did you buy your tickets? If it was through an online reseller, you’ll need to check with them—they’ll definitely charge fees, plus possibly airline fees depending on the ticket’s terms. If you bought directly from the airline, you can call them to see if it’s possible to swap the first and last names. Fees may still apply, ranging from practically nothing to the full price of the ticket, or even having to buy a new one minus any tax refunds.

Thanks so much for your reply! Yeah, I bought it through a travel agency. The agency tells me they absolutely can’t do anything and that I need to sort it out with the airline. I had a real struggle getting in touch with the airline, but I finally managed to reach someone helpful. They say they can make the change no problem—and for free. However, they mentioned that all four passengers are on the same booking and that it’s locked by the agency. If I want them to make the change, I need to ask the agency to remove the specific ticket from the booking. So, I’ll check with the agency to see if they can do that. I’m a bit nervous because they’ve been pretty incompetent, and I’m not sure if this is a basic request or something more complicated... Thanks again!

What can be done for free in advance can also be done for free at check-in; the response you received clearly means, in my opinion, that the reversal is recognized not as an error to correct, but as a misunderstanding or a mistake.

Hi there, It's already great that the airline isn't charging any fees. Now all that's left is to visit the agency so they can give you control over the ticket again.
