Travel Planning Surveys and AI

As part of my Master’s thesis, I’m currently conducting a public survey on a topic that concerns all of us when planning a trip: artificial intelligence and the role of human contact in travel planning.

These days, we’re using more and more digital tools to find ideas, compare options, and book trips... but is the role of human advisors still essential? At what moments? And for what types of trips?

The survey is anonymous and takes about 7 minutes.

It’s aimed at anyone who travels (or has traveled) for leisure, whether you plan everything yourself or go through an agency.

I quickly realized that AI isn’t in my head and can never replace or team up with me to plan a trip. Besides, AI is more artificial than intelligent.

Ah, AI... Not familiar with it at all, but I just tried it out "just to see." I submitted an East Java and Flores itinerary to Meta AI. It can provide useful answers, sure, but it contradicts itself depending on the info you give it. Basically, it tells you what you want to hear. And then, so many mistakes in terms of location, timing, etc... With this tool, you also lose the fun of planning a trip since answers to your questions come in a second. Nothing replaces personal research and the advice of knowledgeable people.
