Securing Suitcases When Leaving Bogota

Hi everyone, Back on the forum after a long absence.

For those who’ve had their large suitcases shrink-wrapped at Bogota Airport: - Is it useful and secure? - If so, do you know the cost per trolley bag (122 L)? - After checking in luggage, if customs or others want to inspect it, what happens?

I always get my suitcase shrink-wrapped for long-haul flights, both outbound and return. Over about twenty trips to Latin America, customs has never inspected my suitcase after check-in, but if they want to see what's inside, they’ll have to remove the plastic.

The cost of shrink-wrapping isn’t too high, and it seems like it doesn’t depend on the size of the suitcase but rather on the insurance that comes with the wrapping.

Hey, it's best to wrap your bags one way or another. I went through Bogota airport a while back and my bag had been searched 🙁
