Travel health insurance for Georgia with Pegasus

Hi there,

I’m planning a trip to Georgia this summer and I’ve been comparing some airlines. I’m not particularly set on flying with Pegasus (though it’s convenient with direct flights from Lyon to Tbilisi), but right off the bat, Pegasus states this:

As of January 1, 2026, all foreign nationals traveling to Georgia for tourism purposes will be required to present valid travel health insurance. Guests who fail to provide the relevant health insurance will not be accepted on our flights to Georgia. Sincerely, Pegasus Airlines

In other words, if you don’t show proof of travel health insurance, you’ll be denied boarding. Personally, my credit card insurance has always been enough for me, and I’d rather not take out extra coverage... Have any of you run into this issue before? If not, what do you think? Why is Pegasus asking for this proof? Other airlines don’t mention it at all.

Are you sure Pegasus is direct? It's a Turkish airline based at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. So Tbilisi via that hub.

Maybe or maybe not, but that's not the issue

"Foreign visitors wishing to enter Georgia must have valid health and accident insurance for the duration of their stay. It must be written in English (or Georgian). The minimum coverage must be 30,000 GEL (around 9,500 €). So, make sure you have these documents before traveling to the country."

Visa covers between 11,000 € and 155,000 € depending on the card you have. Have a great trip!

Gold Mastercard supposedly covers up to 155,000 € (foreign medical)

Est ce que tu sais si cette assurance pour la géorgie s'apparente à l'assistance rapatriement qui est communément incluse dans les contrats d'assurance souscrits : par exemple je m'en suis servi quand je suis allé en Russie il y a quelques années. C'est la même chose ou quoi? je te remercie d'avance pour ton aide 🙂
