Renaissance Promenade Cabin

We're considering a new cruise soon and would like to try the Renaissance. The uniqueness of the promenade cabins appeals to us, but could anyone give us some insights on the following points: - Is the glass door sufficiently tinted to prevent outsiders from seeing into the cabin? - Is the soundproofing good enough to block out conversations on the promenade deck? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi Frédéric, I’ve seen a twin of this ship with Holland America Line. The glass is tinted enough that you can’t see anything inside the cabin, that’s for sure. We’ve taken many cruises with HAL—the ships are high quality, and we’ve never had any issues with soundproofing. But I’ve never stayed in this type of cabin.

Hi there, I had a Terrace cabin on the Renaissance in August 2024. No issues with the French door in terms of sound or visual privacy, but not many people walk by on the terrace deck. However, it seems the door-opening mechanism from the terrace no longer works for most cabins. If you want to settle in on your loungers on the terrace, you’ll need to prop the door slightly open so you can get back in later. Best regards.

Thanks so much for your clear details. Since the boat is old, there are indeed likely to be a few malfunctions.

We’ve finally decided on a balcony cabin on deck 9, right under the aft pool. Could anyone tell me if that area tends to be noisy? Any games or music? Thanks in advance to anyone who’s familiar with the ship

We were on Pont Neuf in a balcony cabin. I think you made the right choice—balcony cabins are really great. I didn’t hear any noise on Pont Neuf, but we were in the center anyway.

Thanks for your reply. We’ll also be midship on Deck 9. We can’t wait to discover this ship.
