Protection and securing luggage in a rental pick-up

Hi, I’m landing in Quebec and then heading to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I’d like to rent a pick-up. My question is: does this vehicle come with a cover and is it secure enough to store luggage in? I’ve heard two conflicting opinions. Thanks

I think (just guessing here), you should ask the rental company.

However, I don’t recall seeing rental pick-up trucks with a tarp. Even less so with any kind of security.

Maybe you could ask for a truck with a fiberglass box. From what I know, those can be locked.
