Benefits of being a student for travel

Hi everyone!

I’m currently a student on a gap year, and I don’t plan to go back to school right away. That said, traveling really interests me. But I’ve been wondering: does being a student come with any perks when you decide to go abroad? The real question is whether I should re-enroll in a program just to keep that status without actually attending.

By "advantages," do you mean discounts?

In Europe, it might get you some discounts, but not in the rest of the world.

More than your student status, it’s your age that can give you "advantages."

I’m 19, turning 20 soon, and I’m planning to travel outside Europe—I’m currently thinking of Australia and Kyrgyzstan to work and make wildlife documentaries on a small scale.

If you’ve got any specific tips, I’d love to hear them.

But I have a question: does being a student offer any advantages when you decide to go abroad?

Have you looked into this at all? From what I know, there’s the International Student Identity Card, and you’d need to check what benefits it offers. Otherwise, I doubt there are *that* many advantages. If you’re traveling in Europe, there’s the Interrail pass, which can give you a reduced fare.
