Cancelled flight due to war: reimbursement for expenses

ElviajeroPar · 2026-03-10

Hello,

If neither the airline nor the tour operator directly covered the costs of meals and accommodation, the bill can be very high.

You should know that, unless you requested a refund for the cancelled flight, you’re entitled to reimbursement for these expenses while waiting for your rebooking:

- in one case, up to 3 days, - in another case, with no time limit.

Everything is explained in detail here:

Cancelled flight due to war: reimbursement for expenses

Hello, Thanks for all this info—I really should’ve read it sooner! I was supposed to return from Colombo on March 1st via Doha and then Madrid (a single ticket booked with Iberia). Of course, the flights were canceled. I contacted Iberia multiple times to reschedule for two other dates, but those flights were canceled too. Meanwhile, I bought another flight to get back via Singapore. I made the mistake of requesting a refund on March 7th, before my return via Singapore. Given the legal texts, do you think I have a chance of getting reimbursed for accommodation and meal expenses from March 1st to 7th if I ask for it? Thanks, and have a great day

Cancelled flight due to war: reimbursement of fees

Hello,

It’s not forbidden to hope that Iberia might make a goodwill gesture. But I don’t really believe they will. I hope I’m wrong. Please come back here to let us know.

Best regards
