Tips for family-friendly accommodations and visits near Florence and Siena

Hi there, we’re heading to Tuscany in the second half of August with two kids (8 and 6 years old). We’ve zeroed in on the area around Siena and Florence for now. I’m looking for recommendations on places to stay and things to see that are great for families. Also, just to add, we’ll be traveling by train and plan to rent a car once we’re there—any tips on car rental companies?

Great vacation plans! Tuscany is truly a beautiful region—you’re going to love it. For accommodations, as mentioned above, Booking.com offers a wide range of options so you can find the perfect fit by applying your own filters and criteria. As for activities, Florence has plenty of must-see spots like the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi. In Siena, don’t miss the Casa di Babbo Natale—your kids will love it. Hey! Siena is a city with tons of charm—you can wander around at a relaxed pace. It’s lovely. Florence is way more touristy; I didn’t love it as much, but it’s definitely worth a visit.

Other places to check out: Pisa Lucca San Gimignano Val d’Orcia Chianti

Just a heads-up: driving can take a while—lots of twists and turns, so you don’t make great time. I’d recommend picking two bases to stay at.
