Current Situation and Atmosphere in the Middle East Due to the War

Hello, I’m planning to leave on April 27th for Bangkok via AF (Air France), direct flight. We’re quite familiar with this destination (we’ve been there about a dozen times). My question is: what’s the current situation and atmosphere like there? Is it easy to get around—taxis, buses, flights, etc.? I know there’s always a gap between what the articles and French TV news say and the reality on the ground. Thanks in advance!

No Impact in Southeast Asia

Having been in Thailand and Vietnam recently, honestly zero impact on the ground. Southeast Asia is geographically and politically very far from what’s happening in the Middle East.

What *could* change: - Flight prices: if the situation worsens, some airlines might reroute, which could lengthen travel times. But in practice, prices haven’t shifted significantly. - Travel insurance: double-check that your policy covers force majeure situations, but that’s pretty standard.

On the ground in Thailand, Vietnam, Bali… life goes on as usual.

My advice: don’t let global news hold you back from traveling to Southeast Asia. It’s one of the safest regions in the world for travelers.

As of now, everything is running more or less normally. Fuel is available, though some gas stations occasionally limit purchases to a certain amount of money. Prices have gone up by 20%, so everyone’s being extra careful with travel. Domestic flights are operating at 100%, but fares have increased slightly.

Apparently, in Laos, there’s a shortage at least at gas stations. In this video from yesterday, it starts with 15 attempts before finding diesel, and things don’t get much better during the rest of the trip:
