Uzbekistan/Kazakhstan border crossing

Hi, are there any travelers who’ve recently crossed the border between Karakalpakstan (Uzbekistan) and Beineu in Kazakhstan? It was closed for a while. Thanks for any info!

Hi Thierry It does seem that this border post was closed for renovations... I don’t have any recent updates, though. That said, I thought you were heading straight to Mongolia... if you’re going that far south, go even further and make a detour through the Mangystau Desert 😉

The Qaraqalpakstan–Beyneu crossing remains uncertain or even closed, so it's best to have a Plan B.

Yep, I’m heading to Mongolia—I’m planning to arrive in early August after the tourist rush of Naadam. I’m thinking of then going up part of the Angara, the sacred river of Lake Baikal.

I was considering crossing at this border post in October. More to come.
