Questions about organizing a group trip to Marrakech

Hi everyone! 😊 We’re traveling as a family to Marrakech from April 19 to 24, and there’ll be 15 of us (all ages), staying in the Targa neighborhood (El Idrissi Street). I’d love your advice on a few things! 🙏 🚗 Vehicle rental We’re thinking of renting 3 cars. We’ve seen really low prices online, but often without insurance. 👉 Do you have any reliable contacts or personal experiences to share? 👉 Would you recommend getting specific “tourist” insurance? 🏛️ Visits – Bahia Palace & Saadian Tombs We’d like to visit the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs, but:

We can’t find single tickets online We only see guided tours with fixed times (like 9:30 AM / 4-hour tours)

👉 Do you know if it’s possible to book without a guide? 👉 Or do we have to buy tickets on-site? (We’re a little worried about crowds and lines, especially with older folks in the group.) 🍽️ Restaurants / meals We’ve spotted the Grand Bazaar Marrakech for a meal. 👉 Any thoughts? 👉 Could you recommend other restaurants in the same budget? If you don’t plan to leave Marrakech, renting a car isn’t necessary.

So, we’re staying in Targa and plan to visit the tourist sites every day, and there are 15 of us. That said, aside from renting a car, getting around might be tricky—I think taxis could get expensive, especially for 15 people.

Why not take the buses? Parking three cars in Marrakech won’t always be easy.

Hello! You’re a bit off-center, it’s true! But no matter where you are in Marrakech, you’ll find local shops nearby!

There are also tons of restaurants for every budget—you’ll be spoiled for choice. There are already plenty around the train station near you. Don’t stress about it. Lots of places aren’t packed with tourists, just as good, and reasonably priced.

At Place des Ferblantiers, right near the sights, several restaurants offer lunches for under 10 €.

All the monuments can be visited without a guide, and you buy tickets at the entrance.

A car in Marrakech is a nightmare (traffic, parking).

There are plenty of bus lines (4 MAD) that go through Jemaa El Fna or Koutoubia. There’s definitely a stop near you—just ask the local shopkeeper! Or worst case, at the train station. Otherwise, a petit taxi (for 3 people, meter mandatory) will cost max 3 € from your place. A grand taxi (6 people) is double that, but it can get complicated without experience, especially for 15 people!

For airport transfers or minibus rentals, I highly recommend MEDLOC. They also do excursions and pretty much everything. Contact them via WhatsApp or email. No bad surprises!

Marrakech has endless solutions for everything—why try to organize everything online? ??? Exception: Jardin Majorelle *must* be booked online in advance.

What a great family trip project! For meals with 15 people, I really recommend hiring a home cook instead of going to a restaurant. A Moroccan caterer will prepare a real traditional meal (tagine, pastilla, couscous) for very little money, and it’s much more convenient, especially with elderly people.

More broadly, if you’re staying in a riad or villa, housekeeping service for the duration of your stay is a real plus. I know services-marrakech.com, which offers cleaning, cooking, and ironing with professional staff. It frees up so much time, especially when you’re a group of 15!

For sightseeing: Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs—tickets are bought on-site, no need for a guide. Go around 9 AM to avoid the crowds.

Regarding accommodation in a riad or villa, plan for cleaning services. With 15 people, the place will get messy quickly. I use a home cleaning and cooking service in Marrakech when we're in a group—it completely transforms the trip. The staff is professional, they handle daily cleaning, and can prepare traditional meals.

For transportation, a bus with a driver is more practical than renting 3-4 cars to stay together as a group.
