Is there a bus between Djema el Fna square and Guéliz? Where do you catch it? Change: at Djema el Fna square or go to Bld Mohamed V? Thanks!

At the bottom of Jemaa El Fna square, all the buses stop. For Guéliz, take bus number 1—it's the first in line. They run regularly. For currency exchange, the Ali Hotel offers a good rate.

Hello,

There are plenty of buses running between the central taxi station at Djemaa el Fna and the Guéliz district. Depending on your exact destination in Guéliz, some buses are definitely more convenient than others. Ask the bus company professionals (they wear yellow vests) in front of the bus shelters or the people waiting for their bus—they’ll point you in the right direction. Side note: Like Jean, I’d recommend Hotel Ali.

A question: If you’re out of dirhams, maybe you’ve just arrived from abroad? By plane? If so: At the airport, there are currency exchange offices (decent rates). Avoid the ones set up right in front of the baggage carousels—go for the ones after security checks instead. At the airport, there’s also a shuttle (bus 19) that goes to Guéliz (the post office, ONCF/Supratours train station), via Djemaa el Fna. It’s 20 DH one way, no matter where you get off (30 DH round trip)... unless prices have gone up since October (though honestly, they’ve stayed the same for at least 10 years!).

At the airport, the bus to the city center is now 30 MAD one way. Everything’s going up. 😞

ah well, here we go! It was bound to happen. Anyway, when you’ve already shelled out for a flight ticket to get here, you don’t need to grit your teeth to pay 3 € for an airport shuttle...😛

Thanks to Jean and Elhine for these practical tips. When you arrive, it’s true that you like to know which way to head to get off to a good start in unfamiliar territory. Thanks again, and I’m personally thrilled that the travel forum site is back up and running too.
