Hi, it is indeed mandatory in some cases. And it’s quick to do. If you’ve never set foot there before, they’re extremely strict on arrival. So, it’s best to plan ahead.

No, if you do things by the book, they’re pretty chill.

When you arrive at Ben Gurion and head to the baggage claim area, you’ll need to scan your passport at the machine, which will give you a little slip—don’t lose it!!! Important! Here’s the photo:

If the machine isn’t working, just go to one of the officers at the general controls. They’ll walk you through it if you’re lost.
