To answer your question, generally, when agencies reach the Chile-Bolivia border (at Hito Cajón), they switch vehicles in 99% of cases.

I’d recommend looking for an agency that operates in both Uyuni and San Pedro. It’s the simplest option logistically, whether you return to Bolivia afterward or stay in Chile.

However, keep in mind a crucial detail: even if you choose a single agency for the entire trip, you’ll *have* to switch vehicles *and* drivers at the border.

Also, double-check whether the service is private or shared (in shared tours, Bolivian 4x4s often carry 6 passengers).

Another option would be to book the Uyuni-to-San Pedro transfer with a Bolivian agency and then, once in San Pedro, arrange a local agency for the rest. There are dozens of agencies in San Pedro, but here too, verify if the tours are shared or private, and whether they’re operated by the same agency or if they pass passengers off to another.

Finally, since park entrance fees aren’t cheap in San Pedro or on the Bolivian side (Eduardo Avaroa Reserve), ask what’s included and, if you have to pay them yourself, how payment works.
